Like most moms out there, I have gone through a lot of different sippy cups in search of that perfect sippy cup.  We have tried those with straws and those without.  We have tried many different brands and styles.  I finally found one that does not leak, spill, leave water rings and does not dent.  It is the Thermos Foogo Leak Proof Sippy Cup .  And the best part is that it keeps the liquid cold.  It is an amazing sippy cup.  I got it at Babies r Us and it is a bit expensive.  However, when you look at the cost of the previously used sippy cups and how quickly I went through them, I feel that this purchase is going to be worth it.  Baby J actually ends up drinking more of the liquid in this cup. Before I would find that it was all over the floors and rugs.  I recommend this sippy cup to anyone who has a baby that uses a sippy cup and has had no luck with others.  It is definitely worth a try!!

When it came time for us to register, the obvious choice was Babies r Us.  There are stores everywhere in the US and they have a great selection of items.  I am learning that this may have been a mistake in thinking.  I also registered at Buy Buy Baby, Schneiders Baby and Target for some other things.  I have learned that not only does Buy Buy Baby have better prices but much better customer service.  Well, at least the Buy Buy Baby on 7th Avenue has better customer service than the Babies r Us in Union Square.

My patience has basically waned with each experience with Babies r Us.  The first was that we were not told how much the delivery charge would be for the crib and combo changer we ordered.  This is understandable as the PA store near my parents told us one thing and did not have all information from the Union Square store in Manhattan.  Though it did end up costing us ~$150 that we did not anticipate having to spend.  (more…)

I am a sucker for rewards programs.  I have a rewards card to most programs: Babies r Us, CVS, Duane Reade, Hallmark.  I have seen some great benefits come from belonging to these programs.  I was very happy to see that Pampers and Huggies has these great rewards programs too.  You get points for purchases you would make anyway like diapers, wipes and training pants!  Check out their websites for the details: Huggies and Pampers.

Graco Snugride 32We are not even parents (technically) yet and so many of our ideas of what we want have changed.  I had done extensive research into baby gear, clothing, blankets, etc.  I had decided (since UWS Dad is not into details) that we would not purchase an infant car seat rather just a convertible one.  This would eliminate the need to purchase another car seat later on and would save us money in the long run.  Well, we attended the Biggest Baby Shower and spoke to a representative with Britax, the manufacturer of the convertible car seat I wanted to purchase.  This person advised us that though convertible car seats are technically for babies starting at 5 lbs, there is always a chance that the baby will be too small for the car seat.  This means that the hospital will not release your baby to you.  Rather than worry about this, we have decided to purchase an infant car seat.  The car seat we decided on has a few perks to it.  It accomodates a baby up to 32 lbs, it costs less $$ than the convertible ($149.99 vs. $309.99) and it takes up less room in our apartment.  So, last night in the pouring rain, we trekked out to Babies r Us  in Union Square and purchased the Graco Snugride 32 in Lemon Grass.  It looks like it will be a safe, reliable car seat for Hunter.  Now, we just have to figure out how the darned thing works.
